Significant Expansion of Scholarships for Local High School Students Boosts Learning Motivation 'Soaring'

Since the 7th local government administration, the county has established a "Five-Year Plan for Fostering Prestigious Schools" and identified 51 policies in six areas to be prioritized and promoted.

The scholarships provided this time were expanded from being given only to new students to also include current students in line with this purpose. Outstanding students receive 500,000 won each for the first and second semesters.

In particular, in December, 1 million won will be given to the top 10% of students graduating from middle school who enter high schools within the county.

In addition, a total of 370 million won is being expanded to support various groups, including scholarships for outstanding students in the nationwide joint academic assessment, scholarships for excellent entrance grades to local high schools, scholarships for children from multi-child and multicultural families with excellent grades, scholarships for children of returnees, and scholarships for outstanding university freshmen.

A county official stated, "We plan to continuously expand projects to improve the educational environment and customized local education projects to prevent the outflow of local talent and foster future talent."

Meanwhile, as of September, Goheung-gun has raised 23.2 billion won in education development funds and is focusing on improving the educational environment by supporting projects such as fostering prestigious high schools, fostering prestigious specialized high schools, providing school uniforms for new middle and high school students, and congratulatory entrance grants for new high school students.
