SKC to Strengthen Competitiveness with 'Industry Experts' and SMEs/Startups

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SKC is launching 'Master of Industry,' an expanded version of its new material technology-based open platform aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the materials industry and spreading social value. Master of Industry is a platform service that connects small and medium-sized materials companies nationwide, which require specialized knowledge, with industry experts.

On the 22nd, SKC opened the Master of Industry service within the open platform. Experts from various fields register as Masters of Industry, and companies in need of assistance can directly select experts to receive consulting services. In July, SKC signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen the materials industry with the Korean Academy of Engineering, the most prestigious authority in the field of engineering technology in Korea, and will start the service focusing on technology and materials fields together with experts from the Academy.

SKC prepared the Master of Industry service to provide more diverse assistance in more fields to a greater number of materials companies. The most notable feature is that the service is open not only to companies participating in the open platform but also to domestic small and startup materials companies. Now, companies requiring specialized capabilities can join Master of Industry and find the experts they need.

The pool of experts providing specialized capabilities to companies has also been expanded from institutions to individuals. The purpose is to have numerous experts from various fields participate and provide more detailed and demand-tailored services. In the first phase, SKC took the initial step focusing on about 200 experts affiliated with institutions participating in the open platform and plans to continuously discover external experts to broaden and deepen the service.

To make it easier for demand companies to use the service, system upgrades are also underway. Search functions will be subdivided by full-time/part-time status and specialty fields, and professional matching functions such as database-based matching services will be introduced to enhance user convenience for demand companies.

An SKC official said, "With the launch of Master of Industry, SKC can now provide detailed consulting services from individual experts in addition to the support services at the participating institution level previously offered through the open platform." He added, "Together with experts from SKC investees such as SK PIC Global and SK Nexilis, as well as external experts, we will develop Master of Industry and contribute to creating a sustainable materials industry ecosystem in Korea alongside the open platform."
