[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gyeongsang National University and Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology announced on the 22nd that they signed a detailed university integration agreement and an ancillary agreement on the 4th floor of the GNU Convention Center at Gyeongsang National University.

According to the agreement, the name of the integrated university will be ‘Gyeongsang National University’.

This detailed agreement and ancillary agreement signing is a follow-up to the first detailed agreement signed and submitted to the Ministry of Education on July 14, aiming to clarify the ‘name of the integrated university’ and the ‘integration form’ according to the ‘National University Integration and Consolidation Standards Notice,’ and to specifically document key matters for the Ministry of Education’s integration approval decision and the launch and operation of the integrated university in March 2021.

Accordingly, both universities will form and operate a separate dedicated committee to prepare for the launch of the integrated university in March 2021. In line with the launch, they plan to establish an implementation roadmap and derive tasks for administrative and financial system improvements focusing on three areas: vision and specialization, education and research, and administration and infrastructure.

Furthermore, depending on the Ministry of Education’s integration review approval results, they will revise and supplement the detailed execution plan to ensure that the ancillary agreement is properly implemented during this process.

The presidents of both universities stated, “We will do our best to make this integration a model case among national university integrations, and we thank the members of both universities, alumni associations, and local communities who have shown continuous interest.” They added, “We also ask the Ministry of Education, local members of the National Assembly, and others for active administrative and financial support, such as expanding the integration budget, so that the integrated university can be established early and operate stably.”
