[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) is holding the “Together Creating a Women-Friendly City Jongno” contest until October 18 to foster a community where everyone enjoys an equal daily life.
This contest aims to discover cases of inequality improvement in daily life to contribute to the spread of a gender-equal culture and to promote women-friendly projects that can be felt in everyday life. Anyone can apply regardless of region, age, or nationality. The contest themes are ▲Changing Unequal Daily Life (photos and essays) and ▲Women-Friendly Idea Projects.
First, for “Changing Unequal Daily Life,” participants can submit photos or essays demonstrating gender equality practices. Examples include cases practiced at home to improve unequal language, sharing childcare responsibilities, mutual care within the family, men’s participation in childcare, efforts to overcome sexist or hateful expressions, and other practical cases.
For “Policy and Project Ideas,” submissions can include ideas for creating a work-family balance environment where parents can work after having children, ways to promote paternity leave, ideas for building gender-equal family and school communities, and projects to prevent violence and crime against women and children.
Required documents include an application form, consent form for personal information collection and use, confirmation of guidelines, and copyright agreement. Forms can be downloaded from the district office website.
Applications can be submitted via email to the person in charge (pandasun@mail.jongno.go.kr), through the district office website (General Civil Affairs → Civil Application → Integrated Application), or by mail (4th floor, Women and Family Division, Women-Friendly Contest Manager, Jongno-gu Office Main Building, 43 Sambong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul).
The results will be announced on the district office website in November and individual notifications will be sent to winners.
