[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum will hold the 1st Haenam Poet National Poetry Recitation Contest.
According to Haenam-gun on the 22nd, the national poetry recitation contest was prepared to expand the nationwide MP3 poetry recitation contest held at the Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum, to widely promote writers and works from Haenam and to broaden the base of poetry recitation culture.
The theme is poet Lee Dong-ju, a representative modern poet from Haenam, who celebrates the 100th anniversary of his birth this year. Poet Lee Dong-ju (1920?1979) was a poet who pioneered the elegant and brilliant artistry of the Korean language based on traditional aestheticism. He formed a unique poetic world that vividly expresses local and national lyricism, including "Ganggangsullae," which is based on Haenam's folk customs.
For the preliminary round, participants select one poem by Lee Dong-ju and one free verse poem, record them as audio files, and submit them by email along with the original poems and application form. The length of each work is limited to within 3 minutes.
The application period is from the 1st to the 20th of next month, and after the preliminary screening, the final contest will be held at the Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum on the 31st of next month.
Sixteen excellent works will be selected from the elementary, middle, high school, and general divisions, with the top prize being 1 million won. If the COVID-19 situation becomes severe, the contest will be changed to non-face-to-face video submission and judging.
For more details, please visit the Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum website or contact by phone.
A county official said, "We hope this will be a happy time to enjoy the last day of October along with the emotions conveyed by poetry recitation," and added, "We encourage many interested people to participate."
