[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] "What can't she do?"

This is said about Ashley Barty (Australia), the No. 1 ranked player in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings. On the 21st (Korean time), she dominated her opponent by 7 holes in the final of the regional golf tournament Club Championship held at Brookwater Golf Club (par 72) in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and claimed the top spot. Grasping a golf club instead of a racket, she showed her versatility as an 'all-around athlete.' In the 2nd round stroke play, which determines the match play seeds, she recorded scores of 77 and 80.

She scored a total of 187 strokes, 13 over par, in rounds 1 and 2. She has a skill level equivalent to a handicap of about 3.9 certified by the Australian Golf Association. In the semifinals of this tournament, she also demonstrated outstanding skill by defeating her opponent by 5 holes among the participants. Tiger Woods (USA), the 'resurrected golf emperor,' praised Barty's posture as "a very good swing" after watching her at the Presidents Cup, an intercontinental golf competition excluding the USA and Europe, held in Australia last year.

Barty's father, Robert, has a deep connection with golf, having served as an amateur national representative for Australia. Also, her boyfriend, Gary Kisik, works as a training pro at this very Brookwater Golf Club. Besides golf, she has special talent in cricket. From 2014 to 2016, she took a break from tennis and also played as a cricket player. It was not just a hobby; she played as a member of actual Australian cricket league teams such as Brisbane Heat and Queensland Fire.
