[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 21st, a total of 13 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were reported within the city over an 18-hour period.
The new confirmed cases include 2 related to a sauna in Gwanak-gu (total 11 in Seoul), 1 related to a residential-commercial complex in Gangnam-gu (total 17), 1 from Donghun Industrial Development in Gangnam-gu (total 14), 1 from Yangcheon Police Station in Yangcheon-gu (total 3), 1 from a nursing facility in Dongjak-gu (total 10), 5 others, 1 related to overseas contact, and 1 with an unknown infection route.
Although the daily new confirmed cases in Seoul have been decreasing since peaking at 154 on August 26, small-scale cluster infections continue to occur sporadically.
As a result, the cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Seoul has surpassed 5,000 (5,008). Among them, 869 patients are classified as having an unknown infection route.
