"Cheongam University Chairman's Side Should Stop Hypocritical Acts and Cooperate for School Normalization"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The "Suncheon Citizens' Countermeasure Committee for the Normalization of Cheongam Academy (Cheongam University)" urged on the 21st, "The chairman of the Cheongam University foundation board should stop hypocritical actions and cooperate in normalizing the school."

The Citizens' Countermeasure Committee is composed of 43 civic and social organizations in the Suncheon area.

In a press release on the day, the organization stated, "We cannot help but be shocked by the sight of a director of the Cheongam University foundation holding a one-person protest at the back gate entrance of Suncheon City Hall recently," and emphasized, "The Cheongam University board of directors should not deny or ignore the substantial truth of various disruptions and distort the truth with irrelevant matters."

The organizations pointed out, "The behavior of the chairman of the Cheongam foundation demanding an apology from Assemblyman Lee, who was the representative proposer of the 'Urging Normalization of Cheongam University' adopted by the Suncheon City Council a month ago, is truly absurd, and citizens are beyond disappointed and cannot contain their anger."

The Suncheon Citizens' Countermeasure Committee stated, "It is well known that the beginning of the Cheongam University disruption started with embezzlement and scandals involving the founder's son, former President Kang Myung-woon," and criticized, "Recently, Director K, a close aide of former President Kang, and a special advisor unknown to the board of directors have been shamelessly damaging the reputation of Cheongam University."

They especially explained, "Former President Kang served 1 year and 6 months in prison for embezzlement, and is the main culprit who led the school to the current crisis by operating it abnormally, including dozens of lawsuits involving interested parties and returning national subsidies."
