Sejong Operates '119 Doctor Car' Emergency Room on the Road

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City will operate the emergency room ‘119 Doctor Car’ on the road starting this month.

According to the city on the 22nd, the 119 Doctor Car is operated through cooperation between the city and Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, equipped with specialized medical equipment and medicines inside the vehicle, and staffed with medical personnel to provide emergency treatment equivalent to that of a hospital emergency room.

In particular, Sejong operates the 119 Doctor Car through collaboration between the Sejong Fire Headquarters and Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital. This is a model of cooperation between fire services and frontline medical institutions, differentiating it from the 119 Doctor Car operation methods in other cities and provinces such as Seoul, Incheon, and Ulsan. In other regions, local governments and companies support the service, and hospitals take full charge of operating the 119 Doctor Car.

The Sejong 119 Doctor Car can also be used when transferring critically ill patients receiving treatment at Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital as well as other hospitals and clinics.

However, use is restricted for patients who do not require medical personnel accompaniment or transport.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital was designated as the first regional emergency medical center. This is the first designation of a regional emergency medical center since the establishment of Sejong City in 2012.

The emergency medical center at Sejong Chungnam Hospital is equipped with 27 beds, including two single isolation rooms, two negative pressure isolation rooms, four pediatric beds, and one resuscitation room.
