[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Jeong Eun-kyung, head of the Central Disease Control Headquarters, identified Gangnam in Seoul, a high-rise office district and officetel cluster in the metropolitan area, as a high-risk area for mass infections during the regular COVID-19 briefing held on the afternoon of the 21st at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency in Osong, Chungbuk.
Jeong said, "There are a considerable number of officetels in the Gangnam area, and many door-to-door sales, multi-level marketing, and investment seminars have taken place in these officetels. These are being reported as sources of mass outbreaks." She added, "It is necessary to strengthen testing and quarantine capabilities in the area. We are currently consulting with local governments on how to proceed."
