Chosun University Offers Generous Scholarships for 2021 Freshmen

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University has prepared unprecedented scholarships for new students in the 2021 academic year.

Chosun University announced on the 21st that it established the 'Admission Scholarship (Admission Excellence Scholarship 4)' last year, providing full support for the admission fee to all incoming students, and that the admission fee will also be fully covered by scholarships in 2021.

The 'First Button Scholarship,' established from the 2019 academic year admissions, is also attracting attention.

The 'First Button Scholarship' continued as the 'Admission Academic Excellence Scholarship 3' in the 2020 academic year admissions, providing 2 million KRW in scholarship for the first semester to new students who were among the top 10% in their recruitment unit based on admission scores among early and regular admissions first-time successful applicants. The 'First Button Scholarship' will continue in the 2021 academic year as well.

They are also implementing the 'Regional Talent Scholarship,' which selects outstanding students in admission scores and specialized fields among regional university entrants and supports full tuition fees.

The 'Regional Talent Scholarship' is a scholarship program supported by the Korea Student Aid Foundation, with the scholarship period varying according to income brackets.

The 'Dongwon Global Dreamer Scholarship,' which offers an unprecedented scholarship benefit of 3.5 million KRW per semester for living expenses to students with excellent CSAT scores, is also gaining attention.

The 'Dongwon Global Dreamer Scholarship' selects scholarship recipients through interviews among students who scored level 1 in the English section of the CSAT and whose combined levels in Korean and Math are within 4.

Additionally, the 'Admission Excellence Scholarship 1' and 'Admission Excellence Scholarship 2' types provide full or half tuition fee reductions for four years to top admission scorers in early and regular admissions, and there are also 'Medical, Dental, and Oriental Medicine Admission Excellence Scholarship 1' and 'Medical, Dental, and Oriental Medicine Admission Excellence Scholarship 2' for top scorers among new students in medical, dental, and oriental medicine schools.

President Min Youngdon said, "In addition to scholarships received at admission, there are considerable types and amounts of scholarships provided by each department during enrollment," and added, "We will expand the scholarship system to ensure that as many benefits as possible reach the students."

Meanwhile, Chosun University made headlines last August by being the first university in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions to provide all students with up to 12% of their tuition as a 'COVID-19 Special Scholarship.'
