[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] KOTRA announced that it will hold the "Global Green Hub Korea (GGHK 2020)" for four days starting from the 22nd. Marking its 13th edition, GGHK 2020 is an overseas environmental and renewable energy project order support event held annually in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute.

This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, overseas client project briefings and consultations will be conducted online. This is the first time project consultations are held in a non-face-to-face format, with 50 overseas clients from 28 countries and 100 domestic companies participating.

The total project scale of overseas clients amounts to 5.4 billion USD. By sector, waste accounts for 44%, renewable energy 34%, and water treatment 22%. Participants come from Southeast Asia (34%), Africa (24%), CIS (16%), the Middle East (12%), Europe (6%), South Asia (4%), China (2%), and Latin America (2%).

During the online project briefing held in advance from the 9th, 26 projects were introduced. KOTRA arranged 150 consultations between overseas clients and domestic companies starting from the 22nd.

In particular, the Ras Al Khaimah government of the United Arab Emirates is promoting the introduction of a waste incinerator facility worth 600,000 USD. It is expected to sign a contract with domestic company K during this consultation event.

Kwon Pyung-oh, President of KOTRA, said, "The COVID-19 pandemic has made national development strategies for climate change response and sustainable growth even more important," adding, "We will continue to discover overseas environmental and renewable energy projects to support the Green New Deal policy and the fostering of green industries."
