Priority Investment in Environment, Safety, and Work Environment Improvement Closely Related to Citizens' Lives
42 Projects with 2.19 Trillion Won Planned for the Next 4 Years
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced that a total of about 100 billion KRW will be primarily invested next year in 11 projects, including 53.2 billion KRW in national funds, as part of the Yeosu National Industrial Complex Grand Renovation Project.
The Yeosu National Industrial Complex Grand Renovation Project is planned to be promoted on a scale of 2.7 trillion KRW with a total of 68 projects including the Gwangyang and Yulchon industrial complexes, of which 42 projects worth 2.19 trillion KRW will be invested in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex.
The major projects for the first year next year include ? Establishment of a Digital Environment and Safety Integrated Management Center ? Training of Advanced Smart Manufacturing Personnel ? Construction of Yeosu National Industrial Complex Multipurpose Cultural Center ? Establishment and Advancement of Smart Factories ? Formulation of a Comprehensive Regeneration Plan for Yeosu National Industrial Complex, prioritizing environment, safety, and improvement of working conditions.
An integrated management center that manages environment and safety will be established, and intelligent shared pipe racks and loading arms equipped with sensors in various locations will support safety. Smart factories that automate manufacturing processes and diagnostics will be built, and advanced personnel training necessary for smart industrial complexes will accumulate assets to lead other industrial complexes. A multipurpose cultural center equipped with sports facilities will also be constructed for the convenience of workers.
Above all, the comprehensive regeneration development plan project for Yeosu National Industrial Complex, which has not yet undergone a comprehensive diagnosis, is expected to fill the gaps in the industrial complex grand renovation project.
Meanwhile, as part of the hub-linked grand renovation projects including the Yeosu Industrial Complex, 42 billion KRW in national funds out of a total project cost of 27 billion KRW over four years will be invested in the first year in six projects such as regional leading business complex-linked cooperative R&D projects.
A Yeosu City official stated, “Through this industrial complex grand renovation project, the local economy will be revitalized and jobs will increase, helping the region struggling due to COVID-19,” adding, “Although projects that must be prioritized have been reflected in the government budget, we will continue to consult with the government to promote additional necessary projects for the Yeosu National Industrial Complex, such as securing industrial water and opening disaster evacuation roads.”
