KOSPI Slightly Declines... Maintains 2400 Level On the 21st, the KOSPI opened at 2412.44, up 0.04 points (0.00%) from the previous trading day (2412.40), as employees worked in the dealing room of Hana Bank in Jung-gu, Seoul. [Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI index showed a slight decline after the market opened on the 21st. However, it still maintained the 2400 level for now.


As of 1:24 PM on the 21st, the KOSPI recorded 2407.17, down 0.22% from the previous session. It opened at 2412.44, up 0.04 points (0.00%) from the previous trading day, but has been declining steadily since.


Both foreign and individual investors are selling. They net sold 53.1 billion KRW and 57.4 billion KRW respectively. On the other hand, institutions net bought 114.2 billion KRW.


Most of the top 10 companies by market capitalization are also in decline. LG Chem had the largest drop at 5.5%. Following were Celltrion (-3.2%), Samsung Biologics (-1.9%), and Kakao (-1.8%). Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor rose 2.7%. SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics also increased by 1.1% and 0.5%, respectively.


The KOSDAQ index is also declining. At the same time, it recorded 878.43, down 1.18% from the previous session. It opened at 889.94, up 1.06 points (0.12%) from the previous trading day, but has been gradually falling since early in the session.


Foreign and institutional investors net sold 177.1 billion KRW and 138.9 billion KRW respectively, while individual investors net bought 347.9 billion KRW.


Most of the top market cap stocks are also declining. Kakao Games and Alteogen fell 4.8% and 4.5%, respectively. Following were KMW (-3.2%), Celltrion Healthcare (-2.7%), Celltrion Pharm (-2.2%), and Genexine (-1.8%). Meanwhile, HLB and EcoPro BM rose 6.5% and 4.3%, respectively.
