[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Gas Safety Corporation announced on the 21st that Kim Gwangjik, the corporation's standing auditor, decided to operate a focused reporting period for employee corruption and misconduct prevention around the Chuseok holiday.
This is part of the '2020 KGS Anti-Corruption Promotion Plan' established by the corporation's audit office last May and will be conducted nationwide from today until the 31st of next month.
During this period, violations of the Public Finance Recovery Act, the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, and anti-corruption laws, as well as administrative misconduct such as recruitment irregularities, unfair contracts, and business selection, safety-related entrenched evils in research and development, testing, certification, diagnosis, review, and inspection, and violations of the employee code of conduct such as abuse of power, bribery, and provision of entertainment can be reported immediately to the Anti-Corruption Reporting Center on the Korea Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's Integrity Portal or the corporation's website.
Whistleblowers are safely protected under the Public Interest Whistleblower Protection Act. If investigations result in punishment or financial benefits, the corporation will pay rewards or recommend the Anti-Corruption Commission to provide rewards.
The corporation explained that thanks to the establishment of the anti-corruption promotion plan and company-wide efforts to foster a culture of integrity and spread employees' awareness of integrity, there have been no violations of laws such as the Public Finance Recovery Act and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act or any corrupt acts.
Standing Auditor Kim said, "We will not be complacent with past achievements and will continue efforts so that the gas-related industry and the public can receive fair and honest gas safety services."
