Lotte Awards Special Scholarships to 500 University Students Preparing for Employment

Untact Job Special Lecture and Mock Interview Opportunity

Lotte Awards Special Scholarships to 500 University Students Preparing for Employment

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Lotte announced on the 21st that it will conduct a ‘Special Scholarship Program for Job Seekers’ in collaboration with the Lotte Scholarship Foundation for university students aspiring to find employment. This is to support university students facing difficulties in preparing for employment due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Lotte will select about 500 applicants from the program and provide a scholarship of 1 million KRW along with an online employment education program to offer practical help in job preparation.

The one-day employment education program consists of ▲ a ‘Job Special Lecture’ featuring a professional employment instructor ▲ ‘Lotte Recruitment Talk,’ which introduces questions job seekers have about Lotte affiliates and job roles ▲ and a ‘Startup Lecture,’ where startup CEOs share information about entrepreneurship in collaboration with Lotte Accelerator. For those who wish, there will also be an opportunity to experience mock interviews via video call with professional interviewers.

To prevent COVID-19 infection, all programs will be conducted in a non-face-to-face (untact) manner using the YouTube channel. All participants must complete the employment education program, and only those who complete it will receive the scholarship at the end of next month.

Applications for the program can be made through the Lotte Scholarship Foundation website from September 22 to October 6. Eligibility requires students currently enrolled (including those on leave or with delayed graduation) in a regular course at a four-year university nationwide who have completed at least six semesters. For six-year programs, applicants must have completed at least ten semesters of the regular course.

Lotte plans to select scholarship recipients by comprehensively considering applicants’ undergraduate grades and economic conditions. Proof of economic status will be conducted through the income quintile certificate issued by the Korea Student Aid Foundation.

Heo Seong-gwan, Chairman of the Lotte Scholarship Foundation, said, “As the COVID-19 crisis prolongs and uncertainty increases, anxiety among young people preparing for employment is intensifying. We hope this scholarship and tailored employment education will help alleviate some of the difficulties faced by job seekers.”
