District prepares 5-Year Roadmap for a 'People-Centered' Smart City
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) established a ‘5-Year Mid- to Long-Term Smart City Roadmap’ on the 16th and plans to gradually commercialize non-face-to-face administrative services such as ‘Gangnam Bot’ by 2022.
To create a safe and convenient city centered on people, the district has been exploring ways to utilize advanced technologies such as information and communication technology (ICT) and big data since last year. According to the ‘5-Year Mid- to Long-Term Smart City Roadmap,’ the plan is divided into the ‘Ecological Formation Phase’ (2021?2022), the ‘Settlement Phase’ (2023?2024), and the ‘Expansion and Advancement Phase’ (from 2025 onward).
Accordingly, starting next year with the introduction of the core non-face-to-face administrative service, the ‘Gangnam Bot Service,’ the district aims to commercialize by 2022 the ‘Automatic Opening and Closing Shade’ and the ‘Remote River Access Blocking System’ using smart sensors and remote systems, as well as the ‘Smart Disabled Bus Stop Guidance Service.’
Yoon Jong-min, head of the Smart City Division, said, “Through this roadmap, we will secure new growth engines responding to the 4th Industrial Revolution and improve the quality of life for residents.” He added, “We will strive to implement a smart city embodying the ‘Mimiwi Spirit,’ which leads the post-COVID-19 era with policies and various services that are inclusive, considerate, and respectful.”
