Online Applications for University Students from the 22nd... Payment Before the 30th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 20th that it will provide an ‘Education Disaster Relief Fund’ of 100,000 won to about 170,000 middle, high, and university students, as well as out-of-school youth, who are experiencing difficulties due to non-face-to-face learning caused by COVID-19, before the Chuseok holiday.
This support fund, one of the 9th Livelihood Stabilization Measures announced on the 15th to restore the local economy and stabilize citizens, is a customized support plan prepared to comfort and encourage students who have been discouraged by academic stress amplified by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The eligible recipients are students enrolled in middle, high, and universities located in Gwangju as of the 15th, and out-of-school youth, whose themselves or parents have their residence registered in Gwangju.
For university students, only currently enrolled students are eligible; repeat students preparing for re-examination, foreign international students, and students on leave of absence are not eligible.
Also, even if attending a university located in Gwangju, if the student or their parents do not have their resident registration in Gwangju, or if they have their residence in Gwangju but attend a school located in another region, they are not eligible for support.
For middle and high school students, the application process does not require a separate procedure; the city receives student lists from each school and pays the fund collectively to the student’s or parent’s bank account.
University students can apply online through the city’s website starting from the 22nd, and out-of-school youth can apply from the 21st at five out-of-school support centers via visit, fax, or email.
