Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Implements Comprehensive Measures for Residents' Stability Ahead of Chuseok

Focusing Administrative Capabilities on the Safety of Residents and Visitors

Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Implements Comprehensive Measures for Residents' Stability Ahead of Chuseok

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Samho) announced on the 20th that it will implement the ‘2020 Comprehensive Measures for Stabilizing Residents’ Lives in Preparation for the Chuseok Holiday’ based on ‘safety and comfort’ until the 4th of next month.

Through this comprehensive plan, the district divides key focus areas into eight categories such as ‘maintaining a flawless quarantine system’ and ‘strengthening response readiness for residents’ inconveniences and emergencies,’ concentrating administrative capabilities to ensure the safety and comfort of residents and visitors returning to their hometowns.

First, to ensure safety, the plan is to maintain a flawless quarantine system to prevent the spread of COVID-19, similar to the May holidays and August summer vacation periods.

In preparation for residents visiting traditional markets and shopping districts to purchase Chuseok holiday offerings, Gwangsan-gu will operate a ‘Special Quarantine Week for the Chuseok Holiday’ from the 21st to the 25th of this month.

During this period, focused quarantine measures will be implemented in traditional markets and shopping districts. Furthermore, a system for checking entry logs and CCTV at traditional market stores will be established to immediately conduct epidemiological investigations upon confirmed cases, aiming to prevent the spread of anxiety in the local community.

Additionally, before the holiday, compliance with quarantine rules will be intensively inspected at over 3,000 locations across six types of facilities including religious and cultural facilities and various workplaces. Focused quarantine will also be planned for public facilities and multi-use facilities expected to be crowded during the Chuseok holiday.

In particular, to maintain the COVID-19 quarantine system during the holiday period, a ‘COVID Response Emergency Quarantine Task Force’ composed of four teams will operate 24 hours a day to prepare for emergencies, and management of self-quarantined individuals will continue as normal.

For a comfortable holiday for residents and returnees, measures such as pleasant environment management, resolving residents’ inconveniences, price stabilization, fostering a warm holiday atmosphere, and traffic measures will also be implemented.

Above all, during the Chuseok holiday period, a ‘Comprehensive Situation Room’ will be operated to promptly handle inconveniences in all areas of people’s livelihoods by activating a network of related organizations.

A Gwangsan-gu official said, “We will do our best to ensure that residents and returnees can spend the Chuseok holiday safely and comfortably,” and added, “We hope everyone will return to daily life without the spread of COVID-19 by complying with quarantine rules and practicing social distancing.”
