[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Sarang Jeil Church has announced that it will respond legally with a counterclaim against Seoul City's lawsuit for damages.

On the afternoon of the 20th, the legal team of Sarang Jeil Church held a press conference in front of Sarang Jeil Church in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, stating, "Regarding Seoul City's claim for damages against the church, the church will also file a counterclaim for damages against Seoul City."

They said, "The Seoul City’s announcement about who and how Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon or the church infected and spread the virus is a claim that will be completely refuted."

They added, "The nationwide spread of COVID-19 is the result achieved by President Moon Jae-in and Director Jung Eun-kyung of the Central Disease Control Headquarters, and (President Moon) rewarded Director Jung Eun-kyung with a promotion," and urged, "President Moon and Director Jung Eun-kyung should immediately participate in a live public debate with the church’s lawyers, doctors, and other experts who question all previous announcements."

Sarang Jeil Church also claimed that some police officers leaked investigation-related information to the media and said they would hold them legally accountable.
