A "School Sharing Blood" for You... Dong-Eui University Selected as Top Life Sharing School Students from the Dong-Eui University Student Council participated in blood donation on the 17th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Which school has donated the most blood by participating in group blood donations to save someone's life?

Schools that have regular blood donation agreements with universities, high schools nationwide, and the Korean Red Cross are called "Life Sharing Schools." Students and faculty participate in blood donations.

Among them, universities with more than 1,000 participants in blood donations annually are named "Top Life Sharing Schools."

Four universities nationwide made the list of these "Top Schools": Dong-Eui Science University, Dong-Eui University, Yeoju University, and Korea Polytechnic University (in alphabetical order).

With two universities, Dong-Eui University and Dong-Eui Science University, making the "Top" list, Busan can be considered a city that has universities excelling in blood donation service.

Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) Social Service Center (Director Yoon Hyun-seo) recently announced on the 20th that Dong-Eui University was selected as a Top Life Sharing School by the Korean Red Cross.

The Korean Red Cross recently released a list of schools, organizations, and companies that shared life through group blood donations from August 1, 2019, to July 31, 2020.

Among school groups, 73,468 people from 403 Life Sharing Schools nationwide participated in blood donations. During this period, 1,975 people from Dong-Eui University participated in blood donations, placing it among the top four universities. Schools with 1,000 to fewer than 5,000 participants annually were classified as "Top."

Dong-Eui University was the first university in the Busan area to open a Blood Donation House. Starting with the 1st Dong-Eui Family Neighbor Love Blood Donation Relay in 1999, a total of 47,504 people participated in life sharing up to the 39th Blood Donation Relay in 2019.

According to statistics from the Korean Red Cross Busan Blood Center, over 20 years, 84,579 Dong-Eui University students and faculty participated in blood donations through various methods such as visiting the Blood Donation House, blood donation vehicles, and blood donation booths. This is the largest number among universities in the Busan area.

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19, group blood donations reserved by institutions are being canceled, making it difficult to maintain an adequate blood supply.

Yoon Hyun-seo, director of Dong-Eui University Social Service Center, said, "Dong-Eui University continuously practices sharing in the local community and strives to contribute to places in need. We actively participate in blood donations that practice life sharing."

Director Yoon added, "In line with some face-to-face classes in the second semester of 2020, blood donations have been conducted at the Dong-Eui University Blood Donation House since September 15, and we are preparing a blood donation relay event due to the difficult blood supply situation caused by COVID-19."
