Operating a 'Sanitation Patrol' System at All 15 Stores to Strengthen Mask Checks and Hygiene/Quarantine Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Hyundai Department Store is strengthening quarantine measures in the packaging and delivery process of Chuseok gift sets and will also implement a ‘Drive-Thru’ service where customers can receive their Chuseok gifts from their vehicles. This measure is taken considering customers who feel burdened visiting department store locations due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Hyundai Department Store announced on the 20th that until the 28th, at the Kintex branch, customers who pre-order Chuseok gift sets by phone can use the ‘Chuseok Gift Set Drive-Thru Pickup Service’ to pay from their vehicles and receive their orders immediately without visiting the department store.
To use the drive-thru pickup service, customers must first order gift sets by September 23rd using the Kintex branch’s ‘Chuseok Consultation Dedicated Phone.’ Previously, the Kintex branch sent a mobile Chuseok gift set guidebook to customers via text message and KakaoTalk. Customers who did not receive the guidebook can contact the Chuseok consultation dedicated phone to receive the mobile guidebook.
Afterward, customers visit the ‘Drive Pickup Zone’ outside the Kintex branch at their preferred date and time (September 25th to 28th, 1 PM to 6 PM), pay for the products from inside their vehicles, and staff will load the pre-prepared gift sets into the customer’s vehicle.
Unlike the typical drive-thru method where ordering, payment, and product receipt all occur in the vehicle, this service allows customers to select and order gift sets in advance, saving waiting time in the vehicle. Additionally, customers can purchase gift sets without entering the department store or visiting the event hall, minimizing contact with others.
A Hyundai Department Store official stated, “Considering the future COVID-19 situation and traffic conditions around each store, we are reviewing expanding the ‘Drive-Thru Pickup Service’ to other branches.”
Hyundai Department Store also plans to further strengthen hygiene and quarantine within department store locations ahead of the Chuseok holiday. To this end, a ‘Quarantine Patrol’ system will be operated at 15 branches nationwide, including the Apgujeong main branch. Staff dedicated to quarantine are assigned to special event halls for gift sets, where customer contact is expected to be high, disinfecting and sanitizing waiting areas, reception desks, and gift set displays every 30 minutes.
Additionally, about 40 to 50 safety personnel and staff at each branch will patrol the stores to encourage customers to wear masks properly, and masks will be provided to customers who do not have them.
