On that day, U.S. media reported that President Trump stated in a proclamation, "(Regarding Justice Ginsburg's passing) we mourn the loss of a pioneer not only in the field of law but also in our nation's history." President Trump praised her for fulfilling her duties in the court despite battling cancer, calling her "a fighter until the end."

President Trump highlighted Justice Ginsburg's efforts to secure women's equality and the rights of people with disabilities, saying, "Her legacy and contributions to American history will never be forgotten."

To honor Justice Ginsburg, he ordered flags to be flown at half-staff not only in the U.S. administration but also at military bases and naval vessels.

Earlier, upon hearing the news of Justice Ginsburg's passing during an election campaign, President Trump said, "She lived an amazing life. What more can I say?" He emphasized that "Justice Ginsburg showed that one can express dissenting opinions without being unpleasant to colleagues or opposing views," and that "her opinions, including rulings on legal equality for women and people with disabilities, instilled a sense of law in all generations and Americans."

Although President Trump expressed condolences after Justice Ginsburg's death, their relationship had been uneasy during her lifetime. President Trump had called Justice Ginsburg "biased" and argued that she should recuse herself from cases involving him. Justice Ginsburg, in turn, had criticized President Trump by referring to him as a "fraud" and other terms.
