Pohang Semyung Christian Hospital COVID-19 'Cohort Isolation'... 80s Infected Following Confirmed Death

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Additional COVID-19 confirmed cases have occurred at Semyung Christian Hospital in Pohang, Gyeongbuk, where a confirmed COVID-19 death patient was hospitalized, leading to the cohort isolation of one floor of the hospital.

According to Pohang City on the 19th, a patient in their 80s who was hospitalized at this hospital underwent two tests on the 17th and 18th and was notified of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis (the 71st case in Pohang) early this morning.

Accordingly, quarantine authorities have started cohort isolation of one floor (8th floor) of Semyung Christian Hospital and are conducting diagnostic tests on all hospital staff.

Previously, a single elderly person in their 90s, who had been hospitalized at Pohang Semyung Christian Hospital from the 10th of last month and discharged, was found in a weakened state at home on the 16th by a care welfare worker, tested positive for COVID-19, was hospitalized, and ultimately passed away shortly after admission.

A Pohang city official stated, “Considering this is an in-hospital transmission case, an in-depth epidemiological investigation is underway,” and requested citizens’ cooperation by asking them to refrain from visiting patients as much as possible and to avoid entering the hospital unless they are patients or guardians to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
