President Moon Repeated "Fairness" 37 Times... Comforting the Alienated 2030 Generation

President Moon Repeated "Fairness" 37 Times... Comforting the Alienated 2030 Generation President Moon Jae-in is delivering a commemorative speech at the 1st Youth Day ceremony held at the Green Garden of the Blue House on the morning of the 19th.

Amid the growing sentiment of dissent among the 2030 youth, President Moon Jae-in attended the '1st Youth Day Commemoration Ceremony' held at the Blue House's Greenhouse on the 19th and emphasized in his congratulatory speech that every effort will be made to realize a fair society.

As feelings of deprivation caused by soaring housing prices and unfairness issues related to former Minister Cho Kuk and Minister Choo Mi-ae continue, the 2030 generation's rejection sentiment toward the government and ruling party is deepening.

In his speech at the 1st Youth Day Commemoration Ceremony held at the Blue House Greenhouse, President Moon mentioned the word "fairness" a total of 37 times. The term "unfairness" was mentioned 10 times. Wearing a "no tie," President Moon took the stage and highlighted his willingness to communicate with the youth by saying, "I want to have an open and honest conversation about fairness in our society."

President Moon first pointed out that the older generation bears much responsibility for fairness becoming a social issue. He said, "The older generation has long lived in a society rife with privileges and rule-breaking," adding, "The vested interests inherited wealth and honor, and collusion between politics and business made rule-breaking and privileges seem natural." He continued, "The authoritarian regime divided the people's hearts by ideology and region, creating structural unfairness."

President Moon expressed empathy for the youth's anger, saying, "I hear the youth's anger that unfairness still exists," and "I see cases of unfairness that seem to be endlessly repeated."

He specifically mentioned the Incheon International Airport Corporation (In-guk-gong) incident, which arose during the process of converting non-regular workers to regular positions.

President Moon said, "Sometimes one fairness caused another unfairness," and "The elimination of discrimination between regular and non-regular workers was perceived by some as closing the door to opportunities."

In his speech, President Moon focused above all on emphasizing the government's unwavering commitment to realizing a fair society.

He stressed, "The government deeply feels the high demands for fairness from the youth and will definitely respond," and "Fairness is the spirit of the Candlelight Revolution, and while it may not be fully achieved, it is the unshakable goal of our government."

Meanwhile, he showed a strong determination to directly address fairness issues by mentioning problems that cause great resentment and deprivation among the youth, such as military service, preferential treatment and corruption in admissions, and soaring real estate prices.

President Moon said, "For fairness to be newly established from the youth's perspective, fairness must be felt across recruitment, education, military service, society, and culture," promising to eradicate recruitment and military service corruption and stabilize the real estate market.

Meanwhile, according to a public opinion poll released by Realmeter, a professional polling agency, on the 14th, the approval rating of President Moon Jae-in's administration among people in their 20s was recorded at 36.6%, the lowest among all age groups.

The approval rating among people in their 20s dropped sharply by 9.5 percentage points over two weeks, from 46.1% to 39%, then to 36.6%. The main reasons cited include feelings of deprivation caused by soaring housing prices and unfairness issues related to former Minister Cho Kuk and Minister Choo Mi-ae.
