Dong-Eui University and 5 Other Universities in Busan Region 'LINC+ Project Group' Hold Workshop for Platform Construction
Six universities in the Busan area, including Dong-Eui University, held a workshop to establish a shared university platform for the LINK+ project.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] In the era of COVID-19, the concept of ‘shared universities,’ where various universities open their past know-how and academic knowledge to each other, is rapidly emerging.
The idea of universities sharing knowledge and technology signifies that the time when universities viewed each other solely as ‘rivals’ to compete against and tightly concealed their ‘weapons’ is coming to an end.
Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) LINC+ Project Group (Director Lee Im-geon), along with six LINC+ project groups in the Busan area, held a ‘Workshop for Building a Shared University Platform’ over two days on the 11th and 12th at Tongyeong Dongwon Resort.
The workshop was attended by LINC+ project directors and staff from each university, gathering opinions to promote the shared university project.
Jung Hee-young, CEO of HM Management Consulting, gave a special lecture on the theme ‘Contributing to Regional Community Development through Sharing Educational Resources,’ and Kim Tae-seok, CEO of Saenggaknamu Education Group, delivered a lecture titled ‘How to Build a Shared University?’
Additionally, brainstorming sessions for building the LINC+ shared university platform and discussions on joint project promotion plans were held, followed by the signing of the ‘Busan Area LINC+ Shared University Platform Construction MOU.’
Lee Im-geon, director of Dong-Eui University LINC+ Project Group, stated, “There is a need to create synergy effects in the LINC+ industry-academia cooperation field by sharing technologies, educational content, and know-how related to industry-academia cooperation scattered across each university’s LINC+ project group.”
He added, “We will actively promote the establishment of a shared university platform support system and the development of joint curricula and corporate support content.”
According to the ‘Digital-Based University Education Innovation Support Plan’ recently announced by the Ministry of Education, the ‘New Technology Innovation Shared University Support Project’ will be launched starting next year.
This is aimed at nurturing talent in new technology fields such as artificial intelligence, big data, next-generation semiconductors, and the Internet of Things.
Prior to the Ministry of Education’s announcement, six LINC+ universities in the Busan area, including Dong-Eui University, Dongmyung University, Dongseo University, Dong-A University, Pukyong National University, and Korea Maritime and Ocean University, have been conducting various sharing programs under the slogan ‘From Competition to Cooperation,’ with the purpose of maximizing innovation capabilities by sharing the strengths each university possesses with others.
They are jointly conducting online entrepreneurship education program development, online entrepreneurship camps, AI and non-face-to-face interview consulting programs, online-based short courses for industries, and joint capstone design projects such as B.SORI (Busan Solutions Of Regional Issues).
