Imsil-gun to Build 10 Billion Won-Class Haengboknuri Center in Osu-myeon

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil County has achieved a great success by being finally selected for the ‘2021 Living SOC Complex Project’ contest and securing 10 billion KRW in project funds for the construction of Osu-myeon Haengbok Nuriwon.

The county announced on the 18th that ‘Construction of Osu-myeon Haengbok Nuriwon’ was finally selected in the ‘2021 Living SOC Complex Project’ currently hosted by the Office for Government Policy Coordination to improve the convenience and quality of life of local residents.

Since 2019, the government has been establishing and promoting the ‘Living SOC Three-Year Plan,’ a joint effort by related ministries to enhance the quality of life for citizens, promote regional balanced development, and create jobs, achieving a triple effect.

To respond to the Living SOC Complex Project contest, the county formed an administrative consultative body from September last year and established a project plan for the ‘Construction of Osu-myeon Haengbok Nuriwon,’ combining the new Osu-myeon Office building with a neighborhood-type national sports center, public library, living culture center, and residential parking lot.

Since then, the administrative council and Osu-myeon residents focused on discovering customized detailed programs to solve local issues, and through organic cooperation with the Jeollabuk-do National Budget Team, they achieved the great success of securing a total of 10 billion KRW in project funds over three years from 2021 to 2023.

Since the review of the project plan began in May, County Governor Shim Min actively responded by explaining the necessity of the project to the Office for Government Policy Coordination and relevant ministries, coordinating with National Assembly member Lee Yong-ho of the local constituency until the final selection.

Once Haengbok Nuriwon is constructed, it is expected to greatly contribute to improving residents’ quality of life by simultaneously solving the aging problem of the Osu-myeon Office and the shortage of residential parking lots, and providing various welfare services such as culture, reading, and sports.

Governor Shim Min said, “With the selection of this Living SOC Complex Project, the long-standing wish of Osu-myeon has been resolved, and furthermore, we are very proud to be able to offer various cultural welfare benefits to many residents,” adding, “We will continue to strive to make Imsil a better place to live by expanding cultural life infrastructure to improve residents’ quality of life.”
