Mokpo National University Achieves 4 Consecutive Certifications as an Excellent Institution in Human Resource Development

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo National University (President Park Min-seo) announced on the 18th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2020 Public Sector Human Resources Development Best Institution Certification (Best HRD: Best Human Resources Developer)’ project hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Personnel Management and organized by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training.

The Human Resources Development Best Institution Certification project has been conducted since 2006 to establish exemplary standards for national human resources development and management, and to promote investment and competitiveness in human resources development. It is divided into two groups: public and private sectors, and is conducted through a two-stage process of document review and on-site evaluation, assessing human resource management (HRM) and human resource development (HRD) through written and on-site assessments.

With this selection, Mokpo National University has been certified as an ‘Excellent Institution in Human Resources Development’ for four consecutive times since its initial certification in 2010. The university receives a certificate and plaque valid for three years, can use the excellent institution certification mark (logo) on all documents, and will receive various supports and benefits to promote competency-based human resource development and management. Additionally, it will be exempt from regular labor inspections for three years.

President Park Min-seo of Mokpo National University stated, “This re-certification as an excellent institution in human resources development reflects the capabilities of Mokpo National University staff, following the university’s consecutive two-year selection as an excellent university in the nationwide national university staff competency enhancement performance evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Education.” He added, “We will not be satisfied with this result and will do our best to fulfill the university’s social responsibility of ‘nurturing talent’ required by the nation and society through continuous staff competency enhancement.”

Meanwhile, based on these strengthened capabilities, Mokpo National University has shown remarkable achievements in education, research, industry-academia cooperation, and campus environment creation, having been selected as an ‘Excellent University’ for two consecutive years in projects such as the National University Development Project (21.8 billion KRW over 5 years), University Innovation Support Project (13.5 billion KRW over 3 years), LINC＋ Project (10.2 billion KRW over 3 years), Gwangju-Jeonnam Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project focusing on Future Transportation Equipment Core Fields (9.5 billion KRW), and the Korea Research Foundation Humanities Korea Plus (HK＋) Project (2.1 billion KRW over 7 years).
