[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangsan District Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Lee Young-hoon) announced on the 18th that it has concluded the agenda of the 258th extraordinary session.

At the 2nd plenary session held that day, a total of 18 bills, including 4 ordinances proposed by council members, were reviewed and passed.

In addition, the council adopted the “Resolution Urging Amendment of the Entire Local Autonomy Act to Strengthen Local Decentralization,” proposed by council member Lee Gwi-soon as the representative, urging the revision of the amendment reflecting the realization of the authority of basic councils and basic local governments.

Furthermore, the council completed the organization of committees by appointing Kim Tae-wan as chairman and Kang Jang-won as vice-chairman of the Special Budget and Accounts Committee, and Kim Mi-young as chairwoman and Yoon Hye-young as vice-chairwoman of the Special Ethics Committee.

Chairman Lee Young-hoon said, “We will repay the 430,000 residents of Gwangsan-gu with legislative activities that demonstrate better cooperation in local councils,” and added, “Although the upcoming Chuseok holiday is a regrettable situation where visits to hometowns are discouraged to prevent the spread of COVID-19, I hope it will be a holiday to ask about each other’s well-being and show warm concern for neighbors.”
