A Parking Tower to Be Built at Haenam-eup 5-Day Market

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) announced on the 17th that it has been selected for the 2021 Traditional Market Parking Environment Improvement Project contest implemented by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

The parking tower is scheduled to be constructed by 2022 with a total project cost of 3 billion KRW, accommodating a total of 140 parking spaces on the site of the 5-day Market No. 1 parking lot.

The Haenam-eup 5-day Market is a traditional market visited by about 500 market merchants and 3,000 visitors on market days, and has suffered from chronic parking shortages due to insufficient parking facilities.

With the construction of the parking tower, traffic problems caused by illegal parking will be resolved, and convenience for market users will be enhanced, which is expected to greatly help revitalize the traditional market.

The county is actively promoting revitalization projects to foster the Haenam-eup 5-day Market into a competitive traditional market by not only improving the parking environment but also linking with the Urban Regeneration New Deal project to promote phased environmental improvements.
