[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] On the 17th, S-OIL held a 'Custom Assistive Device Delivery Ceremony for Learning for Low-Income Families' Disabled Youth' at its headquarters in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, delivering learning assistive devices worth 100 million KRW to 43 disabled youths.
The items delivered on this day included electric height-adjustable desks and posture support chairs, which are customized devices made considering the type of disability of the students using them. To this end, disabled students in need of support were recommended by assistive technology service institutions nationwide, and a review committee composed of rehabilitation engineering experts selected the final recipients.
Since 2010, S-OIL has been working with the Gyeonggi Rehabilitation Engineering Service Research Support Center (Director: Kang In-hak) to carry out a project supporting customized learning assistive devices so that disabled students from low-income families are not excluded from academic opportunities. Over the past 11 years, S-OIL has delivered specially made assistive devices to a total of 607 disabled youths, helping students achieve practical learning improvements and laying the foundation for social participation and independence.
Cho Young-il, Senior Vice President of S-OIL, stated, "I feel rewarded every time I see many students happy with S-OIL's small help," and added, "S-OIL will continue to strive to provide assistance to more disabled youths through ongoing sponsorship."
