[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Jo Su-jin, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's (ACRC) judgment that the prosecution's investigation into Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae's duties and the allegations of 'special leave' for her son Seo in the military does not constitute a conflict of interest, saying, "Is Yoon Ji-oh a public interest whistleblower while the duty soldier is to be pelted with stones?"

On the 15th, Jo posted on her Facebook, "When Yoon Ji-oh claimed to be a witness for the late Jang Ja-yeon, some members of the Democratic Party of Korea formed a 'group of lawmakers with Yoon Ji-oh.' Ahn Min-seok, who led the group, even proposed a bill to define whistleblowers of sexual crime cases like Yoon as public interest reporters," she said.

She continued, "The ACRC under the Moon Jae-in administration stated that the duty soldier who testified about the allegations of Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae's son not returning from military leave could not be considered a public interest reporter," and pointed out, "Ruling party members such as Hwang Hee hurled abusive remarks like 'he cannot be seen as a sole offender' and exposed personal information."

She added, "Is raising suspicions about the son of the current Minister of Justice an act of courage for the public interest, or is it something that deserves to be pelted with stones?"

Previously, the People Power Party criticized the ACRC as the "Regime Rights Commission."

On the same day, Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, mentioned former ACRC Commissioner Park Eun-jung's precedent of acknowledging conflict of interest and job relevance regarding former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, emphasizing, "They are twisting facts with no difference from back then."

Yoon Hee-seok, spokesperson for the People Power Party, released a statement criticizing, "The ACRC, embroiled in neutrality controversies, has become difficult to uphold 'rights and interests' anymore."

Members of the People Power Party from the Political Affairs Committee, which oversees the ACRC, also stated in a press release, "The ACRC has become the Regime Rights Commission. Answer what the difference is between the Cho Kuk incident and the current Choo Mi-ae incident," and criticized, "The former commissioner gave Minister Choo a perfect acquittal, concluding she was completely innocent and granting her a pardon."
