Jeju Maritime Police Agency Establishes Operational Cooperation System with Navy 7th Mobile Task Force

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Regional Maritime Police Agency signed a memorandum of understanding on the 16th to establish an operational cooperation system with the Navy's 7th Mobile Task Force.

As national agencies responsible for maritime security and defense duties, both organizations pledged various cooperation under a comprehensive security concept, including traditional security cooperation, prevention and response to maritime accidents and disasters, and counter-terrorism.

The main contents of the agreement include ▲ sharing information upon obtaining critical information such as maritime emergencies ▲ actively supporting rescue missions for ship and aircraft distress ▲ technical support and cooperation for ship and aircraft maintenance ▲ use of Jeju civilian-military complex port facilities for maritime security duties of the maritime police ▲ conducting regular training to improve joint operation capabilities.

As a result, Jeju Maritime Police can now secure logistics supply through the Jeju civilian-military complex port in case of emergencies, and the use of the helipad for emergency patient transport has improved maritime security conditions in the southern waters of Jeju.

Kim Seongjong, Chief of Jeju Maritime Police Agency, said, “Through this memorandum of understanding, the bond between military and police operational elements will be strengthened, enabling active and efficient responses to the changing maritime operations and security environment.”
