Sindogiyeon, Competitive Edge in Supplying Core Hydrogen Fuel Cell Equipment to Hyundai Motor... Overwhelming Technology in Assembly Field

World's First Development of Curved Vacuum Lamination Machine... Equipment for Flexible and Foldable Displays
Developed Lamination Equipment for Film Electrode Assemblies, Delivered Pilot and Mass Production Equipment

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Sindogiyeon, which was listed on the KOSDAQ market in July this year, is showing strong performance. It is gaining attention for possessing technologies related to both foldable displays and hydrogen fuel cells, which are currently attracting interest in the stock market.

As of 11:28 AM on the 16th, Sindogiyeon is trading at 26,300 KRW, up 2.14% from the previous day.

Samsung Display has succeeded in commercializing the industry's smallest curvature (R) 1.4R foldable organic light-emitting diode (OLED). LG Electronics has unexpectedly announced a rollable phone, which can be rolled and unrolled, as their next innovative model. The competition between Samsung and LG groups to lead the next-generation display market through technological innovation is intense. Sindogiyeon's technology, a developer of post-processing equipment for liquid crystal displays (LCD) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLED), is gaining attention.

Founded in 2000, Sindogiyeon is a developer of post-processing equipment for LCD and OLED. Their main products are laminating equipment that bonds panels and various components during the post-processing stage of display panel manufacturing, and autoclave equipment that removes microbubbles.

In 2008, Sindogiyeon developed a vacuum laminator that bonds under uniform pressure in a vacuum state. The vacuum laminator has the advantage of minimizing bubble inclusion compared to roller laminators, which apply pressure to the film as rollers pass over the substrate. By developing the vacuum laminator, also called a 3D laminator, Sindogiyeon secured advanced technology ahead of competitors, strengthening its competitiveness.

Holding outstanding technology in the laminator and autoclave industry, Sindogiyeon is developing display equipment related to foldable and stretchable displays. They are striving to secure equipment and process technologies for UTG (Ultra Thin Glass), CPI (Colorless Polyimide), and panel vacuum and atmospheric pressure laminating technologies. They also conduct bonding tests and performance evaluations of various products with domestic and overseas smartphone manufacturers.

Sindogiyeon was the first in the world to develop a curved vacuum laminator. With the emergence of various display forms such as flexible and foldable, demand for curved vacuum laminators is expected to increase. Sindogiyeon is actively targeting the display market by leveraging its excellent technology.

Additionally, Sindogiyeon is expanding its business area into hydrogen fuel cell equipment by utilizing its core technologies. In the hydrogen fuel cell field, Sindogiyeon developed a vacuum press that bonds membrane electrode assemblies (MEA), which transport hydrogen ions. The MEA is a core component that produces electricity by moving hydrogen ions in hydrogen fuel cells. The company plans to strengthen related business sectors as the hydrogen fuel cell market grows. In April 2018, they also made initial deliveries of vacuum press pilot equipment to some customers, including Hyundai Motor Company.

The MEA accounts for the largest cost proportion in the stack, which acts as the engine of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Since it is manufactured by bonding several components structurally, the final quality of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles depends on how efficiently the MEA is mass-produced. As the commercialization era of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles approaches, the importance of equipment for efficient MEA manufacturing is expected to increase further.
