[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The 'Ninja' blender showed relatively lower performance in grinding common ingredients such as fruits, while 'Everhome', 'Cuchen', and 'Philips' showed relatively weaker ice crushing performance.
The Korea Consumer Agency announced on the 16th the results of testing and evaluating the grinding performance, noise, durability, and safety of eight high-speed blenders including Ninja.
The products investigated were from Ninja, Ricoup, Vitamix, Everhome, Cuchen, Tefal, Philips, and Happycall.
Ninja's grinding performance for common ingredients (apple, carrot, frozen fruit, raw beans, etc.) was rated as 'average', the lowest among the eight products.
Five products?Ricoup, Vitamix, Everhome, Cuchen, and Tefal?were relatively 'excellent'. Among these, Cuchen was the most affordable.
Everhome, Cuchen, and Philips showed 'good' ice crushing ability, which was lower than the other five products.
Noise levels ranged from 84 to 90 dB depending on the product, with Happycall being the quietest at 84 dB. Vitamix was the loudest at 90 dB.
Durability was lowest for Everhome. After the grinding test, part of the bottom of the container was peeled off.
The Consumer Agency reported that Everhome responded by planning to improve the affected part and offer free replacement with the improved part upon consumer request.
Ricoup and Happycall violated labeling requirements. Ricoup omitted the food utensil design marking, and Happycall omitted the location marking. These are violations of the 'Food Labeling Standards' under the 'Act on Labeling and Advertising of Food, etc.'
According to the Consumer Agency, Ricoup and Happycall have responded that they have improved their labeling.
All eight products showed no safety issues. However, container capacity, components, and warranty periods varied by product.
Container capacities ranged from 1.45 to 2.0 liters, with Everhome having the smallest at 1.45 liters.
Only Philips' container was made of glass; the other seven products used plastic containers.
Warranty periods varied widely from 1 to 7 years, with Vitamix offering the longest at 7 years.
Yang Jongcheol, head of the Consumer Agency's Electrical and Electronics Team, said, "We will continue to provide safety and quality comparison information on home appliances to support consumers' rational consumption."
