[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon National University College of Future Convergence has been continuously selected for support projects in recognition of its establishment of an image as a lifelong education-centered university in collaboration with the local community through various programs linked to the region over the past year, including a management support program for local small business owners overcoming COVID-19 using YouTube, a humanities book reading campaign, online Namdo studies lectures for local residents, extracurricular programs, and faculty and staff volunteer activities.
Accordingly, the College of Future Convergence secured 713 million KRW in national funding for this year's project through last month's annual evaluation of last year's project by the supervising institution, and will continue to provide customized lifelong education for adult learners in the region with a total budget of 863 million KRW, including 50 million KRW from the university and 100 million KRW from local government matching funds.
Kim Hyun-deok, Dean of the College of Future Convergence at Suncheon National University, stated, "According to our own survey, it appears that we received the best evaluation among the four universities operating the LiFE project in the Honam and Jeju regions in this annual evaluation." He added, "As the importance of lifelong education for adult learners is increasingly emphasized due to rapid changes in the times and increased average life expectancy, we will strengthen support so that adult learners in the region can balance home, work, and study."
The College of Future Convergence at Suncheon National University operates five departments as regular bachelor's degree programs: Department of Logistics Business, Department of Convergence Industry, Department of Animal Life Industry, Department of Garden Culture Industry, and Department of Social Service Counseling.
New students are selected without a college entrance exam through document screening and interviews, targeting those aged 30 or older who have graduated from high school or specialized high schools and have worked for more than three years. The college operates academic programs with expanded online classes, 2-3 day intensive night classes, and weekend classes to help adult learners in the region balance work and study.
Meanwhile, to recruit new students for the 2021 academic year, the College of Future Convergence is promoting next year's admissions through the launch of a YouTube channel, online admission counseling on the website, regional admission briefings, formation of faculty, staff, and student promotion teams, and use of various media. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is actively conducting non-face-to-face promotions by sending promotional materials to about 350 local companies and about 180 enrolled students.
This year's rolling admissions are scheduled to take place from the 23rd to the 28th, and detailed admission information can be obtained by contacting the administrative office of the College of Future Convergence.
