[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo National University (President Park Min-seo) announced on the 15th that it held the inauguration ceremony for the '3rd Boknanum Mentoring Program' online on the 11th using the Zoom video conferencing system.
This online integrated inauguration ceremony was held with the participation of about 160 mentors and mentees from seven organizations, including Mokpo National University, Jeonnam Muan Office of Education, Hanyang University, and the nonprofit organization People Sharing Blessings.
Started in October 2018 and now in its third term this year, the 'Boknanum Mentoring Program' is a project aimed at providing systematic and professional mentoring to vulnerable youth in the region.
The project is led by the university and builds a public-private cooperation network in collaboration with the Office of Education and the nonprofit organization People Sharing Blessings. Mokpo National University is the first institution to implement this in the Jeonnam region.
University student mentors, equipped with talent and passion, will conduct 1:1 mentoring with 30 youth mentees in Muan County through both face-to-face and online mentoring from the 14th until December. This is expected to help improve the mentees' academic abilities and provide emotional support.
Park Min-seo, President of Mokpo National University, stated, “Although there will be unforeseen difficulties in promoting the mentoring project due to prolonged COVID-19 restrictions on school attendance, we will strive so that both mentors and mentees grow into outstanding talents of the local community and contribute greatly to the development of the region.”
