[2021 Early Admission Special] Samyuk University, 60% Student Records for High Achievers · 40% Aptitude Test

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Samyook University will select 883 students, accounting for 71.67% of the total recruitment, through early admission. The main admission categories within the quota are Academic Aptitude Excellence (232 students), Outstanding School Life (173 students), and Student Record Excellence (161 students).

The newly established Department of Intelligent Information Convergence, which integrates the Department of Business Information in the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Department of IT Convergence Engineering in the Engineering field, will select its first 80 freshmen through early admission. The newly established Department of Aviation Tourism Foreign Languages, which integrates the Department of Chinese Language and the Department of Japanese Language, will also select 37 students in this early admission.

Through the double major system, students can obtain degrees in both the detailed tracks (majors) within the department: East Asian Language and Culture (Bachelor of Arts) and Aviation Tourism (Bachelor of Tourism Management).

The Academic Aptitude Excellence admission is based on 60% student records and 40% aptitude test scores. The aptitude test consists of 60 questions, 30 each in Korean and Mathematics, to be completed within one hour. It is a multiple-choice test with four options, designed at a level that any student who has thoroughly prepared for high school classes and the College Scholastic Ability Test can solve. Although the student record accounts for a high 60%, the score difference between grades up to the 5th grade is not large, so the aptitude test score can sufficiently compensate. According to the Ministry of Education's policy, the aptitude test admission will be abolished after this year.

The Outstanding School Life admission selects four times the number of candidates in the first stage through 100% document evaluation, and in the second stage, students are selected by combining 60% of the first stage score and 40% of the interview. The first stage document evaluation comprehensively assesses evaluation areas such as major suitability and personality based on the school life record (curricular and extracurricular) and the self-introduction letter. Academic grades are comprehensively evaluated by comparing and analyzing them together with the content of the self-introduction letter.

The Student Record Excellence admission reflects 100% student records for all departments except arts and physical education. The Art and Design Department and the Music Department apply 20% student records and 80% practical skills, while the Department of Physical Education applies 60% student records and 40% practical skills. Student records are reflected without grade differentiation from the first semester of the first year to the first semester of the third year. Except for the specialized high school admission, all admissions select and reflect three subjects among Korean, English, Mathematics, Social Studies, or Science.
