[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] The air route connecting Wuhan (武漢), China, identified as the origin of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), will be restored after an 8-month suspension.

T'way Air announced on the 15th that it has received flight permission from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and will operate the Incheon-Wuhan route once a week (Wednesdays) starting from the 16th. According to T'way Air, this flight permission from the Ministry is valid until October 24, when the summer schedule ends.

On the Incheon-Wuhan route, Korean Air and China Southern Airlines had each operated four flights per week, but all regular flights were suspended after January 23 due to the rapid spread of COVID-19. T'way Air had also secured the transport rights for the Incheon-Wuhan route in January and planned to start service, but was unable to operate even the first flight due to the COVID-19 situation.

T'way Air plans to actively target local Korean residents and business travelers, as entry restrictions have been tightened due to COVID-19 for the time being. A T'way Air official stated, "We will operate with local Korean residents and business travelers in mind," adding, "We will also make every effort to ensure thorough quarantine measures."
