Seoul Municipal Mapo Senior Welfare Center Receives Minister of Health and Welfare's Top Award... Uri Mapo Senior Club Wins Excellence Award from Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute for Market-Type Business Unit... Senior Job Participation Company 'Hyucop' Wins Excellence Award from Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) announced that the Seoul Metropolitan Mapo Senior Welfare Center, an institution executing senior job projects, was selected as the ‘Best Institution’ in the multiple-type category (public interest activities and manpower dispatch project groups) in the ‘2019 Senior Job Project Executing Institution Evaluation,’ receiving a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare and a prize of 20 million KRW.
Additionally, Uri Mapo Senior Club was selected as an ‘Excellent Institution’ in the single-type category (market-type project group) and is expected to receive a commendation from the President of the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute along with a prize of 50 million KRW.
This senior job project executing institution evaluation was unusual in that it evaluated 1,268 nationwide government-funded senior job project institutions in 2019 (226 in Seoul), first reviewing and selecting institutions in the multiple-type category, then evaluating the single-type projects among the remaining institutions excluding those selected.
Furthermore, last year, the incentive payment method changed from being at the market-type project group level to the institution level, with an expansion in the payment scale.
The Seoul Metropolitan Mapo Senior Welfare Center, which achieved excellent results in the multiple-type category, particularly stood out in discovering new jobs through community resource linkage with various companies in the Mapo-gu area, including the senior job participation company ‘HuCop,’ earning the honor of receiving the top award.
The Mapo Senior Club also fulfilled its role as the dedicated senior job institution in Mapo-gu, gaining recognition for its capabilities and winning the excellence award in the single-type (market-type project group) category.
The awards ceremony will be held on September 21 at the Lotte Tower SKY31 Convention during the ‘2020 Senior Job Week Commemoration Ceremony.’ To prevent community infection due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the ceremony will be conducted online and the entire event will be broadcast live on YouTube.
Last year, the district promoted senior job project participation by conducting integrated recruitment events and integrated launching ceremonies for senior job and social activity support projects, contributing to fostering a sense of belonging among participating seniors and enhancing positive perceptions of work.
Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, “We will do our best to create various senior jobs that can respond to the rapidly progressing aging society, expand opportunities for seniors’ social participation, and help them maintain income and enjoy a healthy old age.”
