[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] A netizen claiming to be an acquaintance of the late singer and actress Sulli (real name Choi Jin-ri), formerly of the group f(x), has posted a controversial expos? about the late artist’s mother. The post is rapidly spreading across online communities.
On the 12th, various internet communities saw a post written by a netizen identified as A, who claimed to have known the late Sulli since elementary school.
A stated, "One day, Jin-ri told me, ‘Since elementary school until now, I have been working and entrusted all money management to my mother, receiving an allowance, but when I asked her, she said there was no saved money at all.’ She also said things like, ‘It seems she used advances from the company, and it was very hurtful that she didn’t think about my future.’"
He added, "As seen on broadcasts, since the family was not wealthy, I briefly thought maybe ‘living expenses were tight.’ But Jin-ri’s two older brothers are adults. What were they doing? When Jin-ri endured people’s gazes, criticism, and grueling schedules to work, what were the other family members doing?"
He continued, "Of course, I know that the person who gave birth to and raised Jin-ri went through hardships beyond my imagination. However, she used the large sums Jin-ri earned for purposes other than simple living expenses and lived comfortably. Because of that, when Jin-ri said she wanted to manage her own money, her mother got angry and cut ties. When the pillar of support was paying more attention to other things than me, and said she would cut ties with me over that, I can’t even begin to imagine the wounds Jin-ri must have received," he claimed.
He further pointed out, "(Sulli) came to Seoul alone and, at such a young age, endured overwhelming stress while talking and chatting on the phone with her mother as a great source of strength. When she heard the words ‘I will cut ties’ (presumably about money management), I can’t even begin to imagine the wounds Jin-ri must have received," he emphasized again.

A said, "Having known that friend for nearly 15 years, with many relationships growing close and then drifting apart, I knew well how hollow she felt each time but sometimes turned a blind eye," adding, "I thought I had no right to say these things."
Nevertheless, he claimed, "It seems that Jin-ri, who lived her whole life being used, is still being used. I heard that they are contacting Jin-ri’s fans?who miss and want to see her?in ways too embarrassing to even write about," he alleged.
He continued, "Even if I don’t write in more detail, if this post is conveyed in any way, the person involved will realize it’s about them. It’s not that I’m silently unaware. I hope this stops here before it goes any further. Please, stop using Jin-ri any longer," he pleaded.
Meanwhile, MBC’s ‘Docuplex,’ which aired on the 10th, revisited the life of the late Sulli, who passed away last October.
