"Ihaechan Former Leader Likely Instructed to Actively Defend Chumiae"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon claimed on the 12th that the Democratic Party of Korea is "virtually under a regency system," stating, "Representative Lee Nak-yeon is a puppet, and former Representative Lee Hae-chan is the actual leader of the Democratic Party."
In a post on his Facebook that day, former Professor Jin said, "Since the party is anyway dominated by pro-Moon Jae-in (pro-Moon) factions, the pro-Moon leader can effectively continue to act as the party leader even after retirement," adding, "Representative Lee Nak-yeon told lawmakers to watch their words, but former Representative Lee Hae-chan 'ordered' lawmakers to actively defend Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae."
Earlier, former Representative Lee Hae-chan appeared on the YouTube broadcast 'Kim Eo-jun's Das Bweida' on the afternoon of the 11th, criticizing the opposition party for raising suspicions of special leave privileges during the military service of Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae's son, saying, "What is this supposed to be about?" and "They should talk about the essence, but after discussing KATUSA for a while and it not going well, they seem to be bringing up the daughter’s story and making unreasonable claims."
Regarding this, former Professor Jin argued, "If the messages from the current and former party leaders contradict each other, which one would the lawmakers listen to?" and "The person whom the lawmakers listen to is the de facto leader of the Democratic Party."
On the suspicion that Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae's son called the complaint office during his military service, he pointed out, "The fact that it was not the individual himself but the ruling party leader who made a request in the form of a complaint through the complaint office suggests it was to obtain something that an ordinary soldier could not get through normal procedures," adding, "They are a privileged class with a brain structure completely different from ordinary people. Is it reasonable to spend 23 days for a three-day hospitalization and one day to remove stitches?"
