Motorola Unveils 'Razr 5G' Foldable Phone... Priced at $1399, Cheaper Than Z Flip

[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] Motorola, which announced its entry into the foldable smartphone competition in the second half of the year, unveiled its new foldable phone, the 'Razr 5G,' on the 9th (local time). The retail price was set at $1,399 (approximately 1.66 million KRW), lower than competing products such as the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.

According to IT specialized media Phone Arena and others, the Razr 5G, released on this day, is a successor to the Razr launched in February. It maintains the retro design of the hit foldable phone Razr while reducing bezel thickness to enhance usability and upgrading performance.

It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage. The battery capacity has been expanded to 2800mAh. The camera system has also been upgraded, featuring a 48-megapixel rear camera.

Additionally, through the Quick View display, not only alarms are shown externally, but applications can also be run. Motorola explained, "Users can select the apps most useful to them to run (on the external display as well)." Major foreign media cited this as an advantage of the Razr 5G over competing products.

The Razr 5G weighs 192g, lighter than its predecessor. The 6.2-inch OLED panel remains the same as the previous model, but the hinge gap design has been improved to prevent dust accumulation. Motorola stated, "The Razr 5G is designed to be folded 200,000 times," which refers to folding it more than 100 times a day for five years.

It will be released in three colors, including Blush Gold. Phone Arena evaluated that although the Razr 5G’s retail price of $1,399 is still expensive, it is cheaper than competing products including the Galaxy Z Flip 5G ($1,449), making it much more advantageous in terms of price.
