Jungnang-gu 'Earth-Saving Environmental School' Online Education

Environmental Leaders Training for 19 Residents Interested in Environment, 5 Sessions Including Biodiversity Education in Jungnang-gu Combining Play and Learning

Jungnang-gu 'Earth-Saving Environmental School' Online Education

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is conducting the "Environmental School to Save the Earth" for 19 residents interested in the environment from the 3rd to the 10th.

This environmental school is operated with the goal of actively engaging participants as local environmental leaders equipped with comprehensive ecosystem knowledge.

The classes consist of five sessions: ▲Environmental Education and Environmental Knowledge for Me/Earth ▲Ecosystem Services Provided by Biodiversity ▲Jungnang-gu Biodiversity Education Combined with Play ▲Energy Transition Completed through Citizen Participation ▲Environmental Education Using Teaching Aids in Our District ▲Environmental Education Proposals for a Greener Jungnang-gu, held from 2 PM to 4 PM via YouTube live broadcast.

The district provided enrolled students with private YouTube live links, delivered class materials and environmental teaching aids to each home, striving to minimize inconveniences associated with online classes.

In particular, students engage in Q&A through chat rooms and exchange feedback on assignments.

When a student asked in the chat room, "How can we improve the water quality of Jungnangcheon, where many fish live and migratory birds visit?" the instructor responded, "Just as people plant trees in parks to rest comfortably, planting willows by the water where fish can cool off from the hot sun would be beneficial," facilitating real-time, free communication.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "I hope this class becomes a fun opportunity to learn environmental knowledge," and added, "I look forward to active participation as environmental leaders of Jungnang-gu in the future."

The district has previously received great responses from residents by conducting environmental education for various groups, including operating the "Jungnang Green Environmental Classroom" for local kindergartens and daycare centers.
