[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) has assigned road name addresses and installed address plates at 95 small parks within the district, including children's parks, small parks, and village squares.
Although many residents use these small parks located in residential areas, they had not been assigned road name addresses because there were no buildings.
The district installed solar-powered LED address plates in children's parks and phosphorescent type plates in other parks to ensure visibility at night and to brighten the surroundings, aiding pedestrian safety.
This "assignment of road name addresses to small parks" was adopted as a pilot project in March this year after Seodaemun-gu proposed it to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It was implemented using the object address method, which assigns addresses to facilities even without buildings.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to expand the Seodaemun-gu case nationwide by the end of this year, assigning road name addresses to about 12,600 children's parks and small parks across the country, and providing this information to map portals and navigation systems.
Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "By assigning addresses to small parks, not only can facilities be managed efficiently, but people can easily inform others of their location, enabling quick reporting and response in emergencies."
