Non-face-to-face Online Platform for Connecting Clothing Manufacturing Orders Opens on the 7th... From Consultation to Order, Clothing Samples, Production, and Payment All Conducted Online
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seo Yang-ho) will open the online platform for clothing manufacturing sample and pattern job linkage, 'SP HOTSPOT (Sample Pattern Matjip),' at 2 p.m. on the 7th, the first of its kind nationwide.
Recently, with the rapid changes in the clothing industry due to the surge of global SPA brands and online distribution, combined with the adverse effects of COVID-19, related industries are suffering from severe business difficulties due to a deepening shortage of work.
In particular, sample and pattern companies, despite having the capability to produce high-quality products, have been pushed out of the focus of various support areas and are facing critical challenges.
Among Seoul’s autonomous districts, Jung-gu has the highest number of such sample and pattern specialized companies.
Accordingly, Jung-gu has prepared sustainable activation measures for sample and pattern companies, established the online platform 'SP HOTSPOT,' and is now fully operational. The strategy is to overcome the limitations of business channels for sample and pattern companies, which were confined to offline domestic markets, by expanding into online areas to pioneer new sales channels.
The online platform 'SP HOTSPOT' allows easy and fast processing from consultation to ordering and desired clothing sample production, with simultaneous order and payment in one online space.
When an order is placed on the platform, the clothing design is quickly realized as a pattern and 3D virtual sample. Users can check the 3D outfit form without seeing or touching the actual product.
It is also possible to modify the design pattern or perform size grading work to remake samples tailored to the customer's taste, aligning with the global fashion market trend shifting toward consumer customization reflecting individual preferences and characteristics. The system is optimized for domestic and international active designers, emerging designers, influencers, clothing brands, university students, and even the general public who wish to produce small quantities of diverse clothing items.
The completed patterns are compatible with automatic cutting equipment and can be directly linked to sample and pattern companies for actual production work. Even ordinary people can realize their desired designs virtually through consultation and connect to sample production.
All information from design planning to manufacturing and production is stored in real-time in a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system database, allowing users to store and utilize manufacturing information and data anytime.
To accommodate overseas consumers, the platform supports English services and PayPal payment systems, enabling easy access both domestically and internationally.
The district plans to actively promote practical job linkage between domestic and foreign buyers and sample and pattern companies using this online platform.
When buyers receive orders online, the platform operator prepares the corresponding work instructions, and simultaneously collaborates with local pattern makers to create completed patterns in 3D. Then, after designers and quality checks, raw materials are procured, automatically cut, and actual sample sewing work is performed before delivery.
A representative from the Urban Industry Division of Jung-gu Office stated that the online platform 'SP HOTSPOT,' where the entire clothing sample production process is conducted interactively online between orderers and producers, will serve as a medium connecting buyers and sample pattern companies anywhere domestically and internationally, surpassing the sales channels previously limited to the Dongdaemun market area, based on low cost and easy accessibility.
Seo Yang-ho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, "We will move away from the existing support methods focused only on facility investment and support appropriate content and various operational methods so that urban industries can respond to the rapidly changing times and grow into future-oriented industries capable of high value-added production."
