[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Hyesoo] Singer Lee Hyori has deleted her Instagram account.

Earlier on the 2nd, Lee Hyori declared she would stop using SNS, saying, "I plan to quit Instagram in about three days." True to her word, she deleted her Instagram account on the 6th, four days later.

Lee Hyori explained, "It's not because of recent events. Of course, they had some influence." She added, "This was a space where I wanted to communicate with fans who are always thirsty for news due to my lack of activity, but it was quite stressful and not easy."

She also expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you to everyone who has always come to see my shortcomings, supported me, and cared for me. Of course, I also appreciate those who gave me harsh criticism. I hope everyone firmly holds their own place despite various difficult situations. I love you. Thank you."

Following Lee Hyori's announcement to stop Instagram activities, her acquaintances left encouraging comments asking her not to quit, drawing attention. However, she ultimately left Instagram.

Recently, Lee Hyori declared her full-fledged return to the entertainment industry by appearing on MBC's variety show 'Hangout with Yoo.' She confessed on the show that she gained confidence through her alter ego Linda G. After working with Yoo Jae-suk and Rain as part of the group SSAK3, she recently formed 'Refund Expedition' with Uhm Jung-hwa, Jessi, and Hwasa, continuing activities under another alter ego.

However, after mentioning the name 'Mao' while creating an alter ego name on the show, she was subjected to malicious comments from Chinese netizens who associated the name with China's Mao Zedong. Additionally, she was involved in controversy for doing an Instagram live at a karaoke with Yoona. Regarding this incident, Lee Hyori tearfully apologized on 'Hangout with Yoo.'

Finally, Lee Hyori promised, "I will think about communicating with our fans in a different way," raising expectations that she will continue to engage with her fans.
