She confessed on the show that she gained confidence through her alter ego Linda G. However, after mentioning the name 'Mao' while creating an alter ego name on the show, she was subjected to malicious comments from Chinese netizens who associated the name with China's Mao Zedong. Additionally, she was involved in controversy for doing an Instagram live at a karaoke with Yoona. Regarding this incident, Lee Hyori tearfully apologized on 'Hangout with Yoo.'
