Typhoon Warning Issued at Midnight on 7th for Entire Busan, Coastal Areas of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongbuk

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Due to Typhoon Haishen, the 10th typhoon moving northward with unprecedented strength, train services on the Donghae Line from Bujeon to Ilgwang, which crosses Busan city, will be suspended starting from the first train at 5:30 AM on the 7th.
The Busan~Gimhae Light Rail Transit will also stop operating from the first train at 5 AM. The Geoga Bridge, connecting Busan and Geoje in Gyeongnam by sea and underwater, has been closed to traffic in both directions from midnight on the 7th due to strong winds.
The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a typhoon warning for the entire Busan area and the seas off Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongbuk starting at midnight on the 7th. Haishen is expected to be closest to Busan around 9 AM on the 7th.
According to Korea Railroad Corporation on the 6th, train services on six lines including Gyeongbu, Gyeongjeon, Donghae, Jungang, Yeongdong, and Gyeongbuk lines will be suspended or partially adjusted from the first train on the 7th until the typhoon passes.
On the Gyeongbu Line, all trains including KTX, Saemaeul, and Mugunghwa will stop running between Dongdaegu and Busan, and on the Gyeongjeon Line, all trains will stop between Masan and Jinju. Only the Seoul to Dongdaegu section will operate.
The Donghae Line will completely suspend electric train operations between Bujeon and Ilgwang.
The Yeongdong and Gyeongbuk lines will suspend operations on all sections, while the Taebaek and Jungang lines will operate only between Cheongnyangni and Jecheon.
High-speed rail KTX services on the Gyeongbu and Honam lines will operate normally but may be temporarily suspended or run at reduced speeds due to strong winds.
The Railroad Corporation stated, “Depending on the typhoon’s movement, train operations on these lines and others may be adjusted, and trains may be delayed due to slower speeds.”
