Agreements with 13 Medical Institutions to Support At-Risk Youth Healthcare... Plans to Expand Support to Education, Legal, and Cultural Fields Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it will promote the ‘Gangseo Han Ultari Project’ to protect at-risk youth in the local community.
The ‘Gangseo Han Ultari Project’ refers to a program that provides welfare services in medical, educational, and housing fields to youth from low-income at-risk families in the area, serving as a strong support system to help them become independent.
The district first initiated the ‘Medical Ultari Construction.’ It signed agreements with 13 local medical institutions with various specialties to support medical services for at-risk youth.
The partner medical institutions provide customized treatment through prompt appointment scheduling and examinations, monitor the need for additional treatment, and focus on follow-up care.
The support targets youth from households earning 72% or less of the median income, prioritizing single-parent and grandparent-headed families, multicultural families, out-of-school youth, youth heads of households, and youth with disabilities.
Youth wishing to receive support can visit their local community service center to apply.
The district selects final recipients after counseling and eligibility screening and fully covers the treatment costs for the selected youth.
The partner medical institutions include ▲Mental Health (Gangseo Phil Hospital, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, Fine Psychiatric Clinic) ▲Internal Medicine (Seoul Bumin Hospital) ▲Obstetrics and Gynecology (Mirae Ai Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mizmedi Hospital) ▲Ophthalmology (Siloam Eye Hospital) ▲Dentistry (The Wise Dental Hospital) ▲Dermatology (Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, Chan & You Clinic) ▲Korean Medicine Clinic (Gonghang Korean Medicine Clinic) ▲Orthopedics (Seoul Big Tree Hospital, SNU Seoul Hospital) ▲Rehabilitation Medicine (Gangseo Barun Sesang Hospital, Seoul Bumin Hospital).
The biggest feature of the Han Ultari Project is building a community safety net through collaboration and linkage with related organizations.
In particular, it is not limited to one-way welfare service support but assigns social responsibility for contribution to partner institutions and forms a strong support system together with them to support local youth.
This year, the focus is on the medical field, and next year, the youth protection support will expand to education, legal, and cultural fields.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, “We have established a medical ultari by partnering with 13 medical institutions to provide quality medical services to at-risk youth. I hope that within this support system built through cooperation between public and private institutions, the youth will grow healthy in both body and mind.”
