The award is given annually by Singapore's Workplace Safety and Health Council to organizations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the field of industrial safety and health. Hyundai Engineering & Construction explained, "The Tuas Finger 3 reclamation project site in Singapore changed the application method of the large caisson's 'concrete coating agent' from a manual application using an elevated work platform to an automated application using automated equipment, and this achievement was recognized." They added, "This resulted in eliminating safety accident risks and worker exposure to toxic substances, improving productivity and ensuring quality through the use of automated equipment, which led to the award."
A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official stated, "We will continue to fulfill the role and responsibility of a leading company overseas based on excellent technological capabilities."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Engineering & Construction entered Singapore in 1981 with the 'Pulau Tekong Reclamation Project' and has since secured a total of 90 projects worth 15 billion dollars, including the Pasir Panjang Terminal Phases 3 & 4, the 'Marina South Integrated Development Project,' and the 'Undersea Oil Terminal.'
